Upgrade the Quality of Your Instrument

S&P Ferguson’s, Inc. has been providing guitar customization and repair services for more than five years. Our company is owned and operated by Sean and Paul Ferguson who are both knowledgeable in playing, creating, and reworking guitars. With our services, our goal is to upgrade the quality of your guitar so you can play like a pro every time.

The First Prototype

After a long hiatus, Sean Ferguson decided to start playing guitar again in 2015. When he told Paul that his guitar was hurting his fingers and wasn’t holding tune, Paul said he had to toughen up his fingers and start playing more. Little did he know Sean would sneak off and use his 12-string guitar because it felt more comfortable to play. A few weeks later, Sean got a new 6-string guitar.

About a month after that, Paul asked to borrow Sean’s new guitar, but he got the old six-string instead. Seeing that it was a piece of junk, they talked about ways they could improve the quality of the guitar. This is when they started working on the first S&P Ferguson’s prototype in 2016, turning Sean’s old guitar into a fine instrument by reworking its shape and playability.

They dressed and leveled the frets to reduce buzzing

They started with a base color of copper for the guitar, then Hydro Dipped it with a unique swirl pattern consisting of blue, black, and copper paint that was finished with three layers of clear coat. Then, they also dressed and leveled the frets to reduce buzzing, replaced all the electrical pots, wires, tuning machines, installed a new five-way pick-up switch, and lined the internal cavities with copper shielding for noise reduction.

The final setup of the prototype was completed when they adjusted the string height of the 12th fret at 1.6 millimeters for the playable action. After this, they showed people the guitar and got excellent feedback. This is when they decided to move forward and start making their own guitars. In February 2019, S&P Ferguson’s was formed and licensed, then later that year in July, the Father & Son duo Incorporated the business and became S&P Ferguson’s, Inc.
